Ferric Chloride

CAS 7705-08-0 · HS 2827 39 90

Ferric chloride is an iron(III) salt used worldwide as a coagulant in drinking water and wastewater treatment, and as an etchant for copper in printed circuit board manufacturing.

Moreva Export supplies industrial-grade ferric chloride from Indian manufacturers in two forms: an anhydrous powder with at least 98% FeCl3, and a ready-to-dose liquid solution with at least 40% FeCl3. Each consignment is matched to your specification, packed for export and shipped with the documents your import needs.

3Applications of Ferric Chloride

Drinking water treatment

Added to raw water, ferric chloride forms iron hydroxide flocs that capture suspended solids, colour and organic matter so they settle and filter out.

Effluent treatment plants (ETP)

Removes phosphorus, heavy metals and suspended solids from industrial and municipal effluent, and conditions sludge before dewatering.

Printed circuit boards (PCB)

A standard etchant that dissolves unwanted copper from circuit boards and is also used for metal engraving and photo-etching.

Industrial use

Used as a catalyst and chlorinating agent in chemical synthesis, and in metal surface treatment.

4Packaging & handling

Ferric Chloride: frequently asked questions

What is the HS code for ferric chloride?

Ferric chloride from India is exported under HS code 2827 39 90. Its CAS number is 7705-08-0.

Should I buy ferric chloride powder or liquid?

Powder (≥98% FeCl3) carries more active chemical per tonne, so it is usually more economical over long shipping distances; it is dissolved on site before use. Liquid (≥40% FeCl3) arrives ready to dose, which suits plants without dissolving equipment.

How is ferric chloride packed for export?

Powder is packed in 25 kg bags or jumbo bags. Liquid is supplied in HDPE drums or IBC tanks. Tell us your handling requirements in the enquiry.

Can you supply ferric chloride to my specification?

Yes. Share the assay, ferric iron content and impurity limits you need, and we confirm availability against that specification before quoting.
